Founded in 1997, Wuchang Institute of Technology has developed into a full-time ordinary undergraduate university with engineering as the main body, management and science as the two wings, and economics, literature, art, law, medicine, education and other disciplines with coordinated development. In 2018, the school passed the qualification assessment of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education. The school is located in "Wuhan ? China Optics Valley", covering an area of 828,100 square meters, with a construction area of 444,000 square meters, located in the beautiful foothills of Meinan Mountain, surrounded by Tangxun Lake, Asia's largest urban lake, surrounded by three sides, European-style buildings hidden in green mountains and green waters, picturesque scenery, is one of the top ten beautiful lakeview campuses in China.

The school has 13 colleges, including the School of Artificial Intelligence, the School of Intelligent Construction, the School of Life Sciences, the School of Health and Nursing, the School of Business, the School of Grammar and Law, the School of Art and Design, the School of Film and Television Media, the School of Marxism, the College of General Quality Education, the College of International Education, the College of Modern Industry, and the College of Continuing Education, offering 56 undergraduate and junior college majors. At present, there are nearly 19,000 full-time undergraduate (college) students, master's students and international students.
