Enormous achievements in International Education and outstanding performance in International exchange and cooperation are other unique characteristics of NJUCM. As one of the first several universities opening to the world, it received the first intake of international students of TCM in 1957. Early in the year of 1993, it initiated a joint Bachelor program with Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia, making the very first university of TCM in China to begin cooperation with a nationally accredited university in the West in the field of TCM higher education. In the year of 2005, authorized by State Administration of TCM, NJUCM began undertaking the Master program of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine with University of Rome and University of Milan, Italy, which was carried out at governmental level with foreign country in this field for the first time. Up till now, NJUCM has cultivated more than 9000 TCM practitioners for over 90 countries and regions. For many years, it maintains long-term friendly collaboration with government bodies, higher educational institutes and social organizations in over 30 countries and regions all around the world, including U.S.A, U.K, Germany, France, Japan, Singapore, Portugal, etc. in the fields of education, health care and scientific research, thus making a notable contribution to the Internationalization of TCM.
Nanjing International Education College (Hong Kong Macao and Taiwan Education Center) is responsible for enrollment and administration of overseas students for the programs of Bachelor, Master, PhD and other various short-term training courses. This college is a teaching unit within the NJUCM and comprises of various general and individual services. It has a strong academic staff, experienced in both theory and clinical training. All the teachers are well versed in the history and development of TCM and acupuncture, and understand international students' individualities and specific requirements. As a result, classes are well organized, combining both theory courses and clinical practice.
