Overview International business covers all business transactions involving participants from two or more countries. It is a field of economics and management and concerns the special features of transnational business including movement of goods, services, capital, personnel, information and technology. The programs in International Economics and Trade and Business Management will expose students to research findings and approaches relevant to the disciplines. They will also expose students to key issues relevant to the disciplines at international levels. They offer formal studies in the Chinese language & culture and general economics and management areas during the first two years, giving them a broad language and business grounding before proceeding to more specialist studies of the international business environment and the management of international businesses in the following years. Totally 40 credits of intensive Chinese course are offered, including Chinese language, culture, religions, history, etc., which help students master the Chinese language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing and understand the richness of Chinese culture, society and history. The programs will be offered totally in English. Professors, faculty members and administrators communicate totally in English, and all teaching materials are provided in English. Students come from various countries, which creates a multi-cultural community to help students make cross-national friends and potential business partners in future career. Objectives The programs will teach you to understand the world of business and will provide you with the foundation skills and knowledge necessary to pursue a successful career in business. The programs will provide you a thorough understanding of the workings of economy and business in China. Through professional training in the business disciplines, it will develop a capacity for logical analysis and the knowledge and skills required to do business with Chinese. The programs will help you develop the practical skills employers are looking for, including strong analytical skills, high-level problem solving skills, the ability to communicate effectively with a business environment, and team-working skills. Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) was founded in December 1949 as the former Shanghai Russian College. It later was named the Shanghai Foreign Language Institute and became a national key university approved by the State Council in 1963. Approved by the Ministry of Education in 1994, it was officially renamed as “Shanghai International Studies University”. In the same year, it was listed as one of the first colleges and universities jointly supervised by the national Ministry of Education and the Municipality of Shanghai. In 1996, it passed the evaluation process of Project 211 directed by the Ministry of Education, and became one of the nation’s “100 key universities for the 21st Century.”

Each room has a private bathroom, a telephone, a TV set, internet access, etc.

Double room: 65 RMB/person/day (70 RMB/person/day in case of less-than-three-month lodging); 

Single room: 140 RMB/day.

Songjiang Campus

Introduction

A three-storey building built in 2001, is located on Songjiang Campus of SISU. Both double rooms and single rooms are available. Each room has an air-conditioner, a private bath, a telephone and a TV set.

Single room: RMB 100 per day.

( ★ The accommodation fees of the above university dormitories are paid by semester and will not be refunded if you leave during the semester.)

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

1. Applicants should be Non-Chinese citizens, senior high school graduates, over 18 and under 40 years old, in good health, and with reliable financial support and custody.
2. Applicants must have a good command of English, with one of the following: TOEFL IBT (internet based) test result of at least 80 points, TOEFL (computer based) test result of at least 213 points, TOEFL (paper based) test result of at least 550 points, or IELTS test result of at least 6.0.
If there are over 10 applicants for each program, it will be opened.

1.Photocopy of valid passport
With photo, passport number &expiration date and name included.

2.Passport-sized photo
A passport-sized photo taken recently of the applicant.

3.Graduation certificate of high school
Graduation certificate should be in Chinese or English.If not, it should be translated into Chinese or English and be notarized.

5.Certificate of English proficiency test
IELTS or TOEFl will only be required if the applicant is not a native English speaker.

6.Personal Statement
