International Politics

Founded in 1951, the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) is under the leadership of the Ministry of Education (MOE) in China. Business English, Business Administration, Economics, and Finance are taught in English and offered comprehensively for bachelor’s defree , master’s degree and doctoral degree. Currently, there are more than 2,700 foreign students from about 120 countries and regions studying at UIBE. Besides, it also provides Chinese Language. Educational Objective

The aim of international politics program is cultivate international politic specialists who proficient in basic theory of international politics, world economics, and economic diplomacy. Thesis (4 Credits) In the fourth year of their study, students must complete a thesis related to their major to meet the graduation requirements. The length of the thesis should be around 8000 words. The thesis is a milestone assessment on the intended level of achievement both in the major and the general learning outcomes by the students. Specifically, students, must demonstrate the ability to apply their learning to complex, unscripted problems in the context of their advanced studies, the mastery of the skills required for their disciplines as well as essential learning outcomes including the breadth and the depth of their knowledge, critical and creative thinking, problem solving, the ability to integrate knowledge and skills and present their work in an appropriate manner.

Note: The course requires students to pay the tuition or admission deposit before issuing the admission package. Students received the admission notice should pay 10,000 RMB advanced payment of tuition fee to secure study qualification.The advanced payment is non-refundable and will be applied to the tuition for the first year.

UIBE was founded in 1951 as the Beijing Institute of Foreign Trade. In 1960 it was designated as a "key university" by the government for its outstanding programs. In May 1997 UIBE was put on the list of "Project 211" universities, a governmental program aimed at turning about 100 Chinese universities into exceptionally high quality academic institutions in the new century. In 2000, UIBE was merged with the China Institute of Finance and consequently reinforced its status as one of the leading academic institutions specializing in the fields of economics, business, insurance, management, finance, law, and international trade.

In December 1989, UIBE became the first university in China to have a Board of Trustees composed of members from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Bank of China, People's Insurance Company of China, Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce, and several others. Li Lanqing, the former Vice-Premier of the State Council, took the chair for its first session, and Wu Yi, former Vice-Premier of the State Council, chaired the Board for its second session.

The University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), is located in the lovely Chaoyang District, the most international area of Beijing, located in the Northeastern part of China's capital Beijing; a stone's throw to many of Beijing's most revered monuments, easily accessible to all points of the capital thanks to an ultra efficient and comfortable transportation subway network.

Types of accommodation: 

1. On-campus residences

Three buildings are available for international student: Huibin building (#6 building), Huicai bulding (#5 building) and Huide building (#0 building). There are Standard Rooms and Suites which together contain 550 rooms and more than 1200 beds. All the departments are designed and furnished at the standard of 2 or 3 star hotel. Besides, we also provide favorable price and high-standard service to our students.

Huibin House (#6) is a six-floor building with 196 standard rooms and 9 spacious suites. In the middle of each floor there is a public meeting area, a kitchen and public toilets.  Each double-bed room is equipped with fine furniture and modern facilities, including a telephone, a TV set, an air conditioner, a private bathroom and so on. The House also has a computer center, a multifunction hall, a gym, a laundry and a coffee shop. Public kitchens are on each floor. The front desk can help students to fax, photocopy and book tickets. The offices of School of International Education, some classrooms and meeting rooms are also located at this building. At present, the rent for long-term students is RMB 100/day for a standard room and RMB 50/day for a bed.

Double Room

Huicai Apartment (#5), completed in September 2002, has 118 suits. Each apartment has a spacious sitting room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and balcony and is furnished with air conditioner, TV, telephone, network. The price for each room is RMB 130/day (RMB 65/bed). On the east wing there are 89 rooms which is equipped the same as Huibin building except the bathroom. The pubic bathroom is set on every floor. The price is RMB 70/day (RMB 35/bed).

Double Room

Huide Apartment (#0), which was put into use in September 2001, has a total of 136 apartments. Each apartment includes a spacious sitting room, double-bed sleeping room, bathroom, kitchen and balcony and is furnished with air conditioner, TV, telephone, network. The building has a laundry and a coffee shop. The front desk can help students to fax, photocopy and book ticket. The rooms in Huide Apartment are the most spacious ones among these three buildings. The rent for long-term students is RMB 130 ~ 140 per day. (RMB 65 to 70/bed)

A deposit of RMB 2000 is required when check-in and will be refunded when students check out.

2. Off-campus housing

We introduce the following hotels for reference to those who will not live on campus. There are several hotels in the vicinity which offer rooms to students at reduced rates for long-term occupancy.

Huiqiao Hotel, Yinghua Hotel and the Mayor's Home are all standard 2- or 3-star hotels right across the street from the west gate of the University. The rooms (with 2 beds) are all air-conditioned, have 24-hour hot water, and are fully furnished. The daily rent is approximately RMB 320.

Besides the hotels mentioned above, the Huiyuan Apartment and North Star Continental Grand Hotel can also be considered as a possible choice.

3 Steps to Apply to a Chinese University

1. A secondary school or high school certificate. Education should normally consist of a minimum of 12 years of study.

3. Applicants should have one of the following documents to prove their English proficiency: 

-TOEFL IBT (internet based) test result of at least 86 points

- TOEFL computer based) test result of at least 213 points 

-TOEFL (paper based) test result of at least 550 points

- IELTS test result of at least 6.0. 

4. Applicants under 18 years old should provide notarial letters.

With photo, passport number &expiration date and name included.

2. Passport-sized photo
A passport-sized photo taken recently of the applicant

3. High school's degree diploma
Highschool certificate should be in Chinese or English.

If not, it should be translated into Chinese or English and be notarized.
