Located in an urban district of Beijing, Minzu University of China has a beautiful flower-garden style campus, something rarely seen in northern China. It is one of the first eight universities in China that enrolled international students and began teaching and researching Chinese as a foreign language.
In a sense, MUC is a microcosm of the big family of Chinese ethnic groups, and it is the only university in China where all of China's 56 ethnic groups are represented. You will enjoy the colorful ethnic cultures and have a memorable experience there.

About MinZu University of China

Minzu University of China, or MUC, (originally Central University for Nationalities) is one of China's most important comprehensive universities, and it is one of the 38 key universities receiving direct development support from the Chinese government. The goal for Minzu University of China is to build up as 'a first-class ethnic university in the world'.

Minzu University of China has an advantageous geographical position, being located in an urban district of Beijing, and transportation is very convenient. There are many buses and a subway outside the front gate of MUC. MUC  is situated in a university district, near the National Library to its south, and the Chinese 'Silicon Valley'-Zhongguancun High-Technology Industry Base to its north. It has a beautiful flower-garden style campus, something rarely seen in northern China.

Minzu University of China has a comprehensive set of university disciplines, and its ethnic characteristics are highly distinctive.  Humanities is its main focus and ethnic studies is its defining specialty, with courses covering the liberal arts, science, engineering, medical science, management, education, finance and economics, politics and law, physical education, art and more. At present, MUC has 23 colleges and departments, 67 bachelor's degree programs, 64 master's degree programs, and 25 doctoral degree programs. Its ethnology, Chinese ethnic minority language and literature, Chinese ethnic minority art and so on which are number one in China and well-known in the world. All of the majors are open to international students. Today, MUC has a teaching faculty of 1,967 members, including 487 professors and associate professors.

At Minzu University of China,  multiple cultures exist side by side harmoniously. It not only has a high-quality, top-level faculty representing many ethnic backgrounds, but also 2/3 of its 14,000 full-time students is ethnic minorities. In a sense, MUC  is a microcosm of the big family of Chinese ethnic groups, and it is the only university in China where all of China's 56 ethnic groups are represented in its faculty and student body.  The multiple cultures of the 56 ethnic groups harmoniously mix together here.

Minzu University of China is one of the most well-known institutions in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language in China. It is one of the first eight universities in China that enrolled international students and began teaching and researching Chinese as a foreign language. The College of International Education (CIE) is a special agency that is responsible for recruiting, teaching, managing, and service to all international students at MUC. The college’s facilities are complete, with an excellent teachers' team, and over 90% of the full-time teachers have qualification certificates for teaching Chinese as a foreign language. For international students, CIE provides Chinese language instruction in small classes (5-15 persons).  The teachers have a great deal of teaching experience, and outside of the classroom there are tutors and study partners who help in solving the difficulties in study, and daily life.
  
Minzu University of China  offers scholarships to a portion of the excellent international students who study in regular degree programs.

At present, the CUN is to carry forward its tradition and further its reforms. Accommodation

A:The international students apartment has public lavatory, coin operated auto washing machine, refrigerator, IC-card public phone on its each floor and a convenient store on its first floor. Each room is furnished with:

B: International students can rent houses outside campus with a registration certificate from the local police station. International students also can live in common Chinese students apartment at CUN, the room fee depends on different conditions from RMB150 to 600 per month per person.
C: All cafeterias and restaurants on campus are available to international students.
CUN has three student cafeterias、one Muslim canteen and lots of ethnic specialty restaurants,which can satisfy different tastes of all Chinese and international students. The actual meal fee depends on the person, but is about RMB 15 per day.

Application Materials

  1. Certificate of HSK
    HSK level 5(*HSK level 3 required for the major of teaching Chinese as foreign language)
  2. Photocopy of valid passport
    With name, passport number & expiration date, and photo included
  3. Passport photo
    A recent passport-sized photo of the applicant
  4. High school academic transcript
  5. High school graduate certificate
    Graduation certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.
