Long-term Chinese Language Course

Established in 1901, Shandong University is one of the initiative universities of modern Chinese higher education and a key comprehensive university under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. As one of the first universities on the list of Project 211 and Project 985, Shandong University has been developing by leaps and bounds and reached an unprecedented level in recent years. The teaching quality and competitiveness of the university has been remarkably improved and its international influence has been significantly strengthened.

Chinese Language Program is a non-degree program, with the aim to improve international students’ Chinese proficiency and communicative competence. Those who successfully complete the program will be awarded the Certificate of Completion by SDUW.

Shandong University is a competitive comprehensive university which is magnificent in scale. The university comprises eight campuses in three different cities (Jinan, Qingdao and Weihai), covering an area of over 533 hectares. Its full-time student population totals above 60,000. Shandong University has one of the largest ranges of academic disciplines in China, which is representative in comprehensive universities. There are at present 12 general disciplines for undergraduates and postgraduates, namely Philosophy, Economics, Law, Education, Literature, History, Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, Management, and Fine arts. Shandong University is listed into China’s construction plan of world-class universities (Category A) with its strong academic strength, distinctive characteristics and great influence both at home and abroad.

Off campus living to Chinese language students

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good physical and mental health and possess a valid foreign passport. Applicants under the age of 18 must submit relevant supporting documents at the time of application and entry.

2. For those who were originally Chinese citizens and later became foreign nationals, and those who have acquired a foreign nationality at birth, one or both of the parents are Chinese citizens and have resided in a foreign country, are subject to the regulations as stated in Document No. 12 [2020] of the P.R.C Ministry of Education and applicants must submit relevant supporting documents (Annex 2); 3. Applicants must possess at least a high school diploma or its equivalent.

2. Photocopy of passport, including the page of personal information and visa or residence permit. The passport should have a validity of at least 6 months.

3. High school diploma or above or equivalent. If the certificates are not available yet, a pregraduation certificate should be presented to affirm the applicant’s expected graduation date.

4. Official transcripts for all the courses in high-school or above studies

5. CV in Chinese, or English, or Korean

6. Foreigner Physical Examination Form

Note: The physical examination form must be fully filled in. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a stamped photograph will be deemed invalid. Please ensure your physical examination result remains valid

during your application time as its validity is only 6 months.

7. Electronic Photos

Note: The photo should be in the size of 33mm×48mm with white background in JPG format. Scanned copies of developed photos are not acceptable. Two developed photos should be submitted upon registration.
