The School of International Audit offers courses of Auditing and Engineering Management. Auditing specialty was established in 1987 and is the priority subject of Jiangsu province and China National Audit Office (CNAO) and a famous subject of Jiangsu province. It was among the first to introduce Auditing to Engineering Management in China with an aim of cultivating talents with combined abilities in engineering management and engineering auditing. There are three departments within the SIA: Department of Audit, Department of International Audit and Department of Engineering Management. The Department of Audit has paid great attention to government auditing for a long time and is now expanding into the research areas of internal auditing and independent auditing and has greatly impacted the establishment of China’s auditing theory system.
The Department of International Audit was the first attempt by NAU in the area of international co-operation. In 1998, NAU started the cooperation with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) to foster international CPAs. Students of the Department of International Audit will learn the professional courses provided by ACCA at the same time of learning regular auditing major courses. Due to the outstanding achievements of our students, the ACCA Training Center is now the gold approval tuition provider approved by ACCA. The Department of Engineering Management has cultivated inter-disciplinary talents who have satisfied the requirements of China’s economic development.
There are now more than 2000 full-time undergraduates and postgraduates and over 70 teachers and staff in SIA. It has nearly 20 professors and associate professors, and nearly 20 PhDs or PhD candidates, among whom two enjoy special allowance from the State Council, and one was awarded the title of 'Famous Teacher in Jiangsu'. In recent years, about 20 monographs and textbooks and around 300 dissertations written by teachers of SIA have been published. SIA has also engaged in more than 20 national, ministerial and provincial research projects, and has won more than 30 national, ministerial and provincial research and teaching awards.
SIA has been seeking the opportunities of international co-operation constantly. After the successful co-operation with ACCA, in 2007, it applied for the membership of IAEP (Internal Auditing Education Partnership) program and in September 2007, IIA (Institute of Internal Auditors) approved NAU as the partner level member. In Sep 2008, SIA will recruit its first IAEP program students.
