What most other universities cannot offer is the English-taught Chinese medicine program (bachelor's degree) and acupuncture & tuina program (bachelor's degree). Apart from that, GZUCM also encompasses a great many other programs (degree or non-degree) in the medium of Chinese. Non-degree programs available for International students contain acupuncture (basic or advanced), acupuncture and moxibustion, tuina massage, qigong etc. Bachelor's degree programs are also various, such as integrated western and Chinese clinical medicine, pharmacy, nursing and so on. ProgramAbout the Program

As a clinical medicine program, it demands students to systematically master the fundamental knowledge and diagnostic and treatment skills of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture and Massage as well as fundamental knowledge of Western medicine, apply syndrome differentiation and correct treatment with Chinese Medicine, acupuncture and massage to familiar diseases, frequently occurring diseases and serious diseases. Major Courses for Specialty:Fundamental Chinese Medicine, Chinese Medicine Diagnostics, Science of Chinese Materia Medica, Science of Formulas of Chinese Medicine, Human Anatomy, Physiology, Fundamental Diagnostics, Meridians and Acupoints, Science of Needling and Moxibustion, Theory of Acupuncture Therapy, Theory of Tuina, Internal Medicine (CM) Internal Medicine (Western Medicine), Surgery (CM),Gynecology (CM), Pediatrics (CM), etc.

1.Educational Objectives
Abiding by the foreign education principles of Chinese Communist Party, taking "letting Chinese Medicine step forward to the world" as the final aim, following the historical trend of educational internalization and sticking to the guidance of "gearing education to the needs of modernization, world and future" , the university offers this program to bring about senior international Chinese Medicine acupuncture and massage professionals with all-round development in morality, intelligence and physique, certain Chinese language and culture knowledge, modern medicine knowledge and diagnosis and treatment skills, and with necessary theoretical knowledge and practical working abilities needed for clinical acupuncture and massage work.
2.Basic Requirements 1.Love Chinese culture and Chinese Medicine, willing to work for human health; abide by the laws and medical ethics; have good morality and cultural quality; have good ethnics and professional morality; hard-working, strict, truth-seeking, innovative and ambitious. 2.Master the fundamental theories of Chinese Medicine and Chinese Materia Medica and fundamental theories and clinical abilities of acupuncture and massage in Chinese Medicine; acquire certain knowledge of natural science and modern medicine and acquire the acupuncture and massage abilities.

3.Acquire certain Chinese Medicine knowledge about traditional healthcare physical education, form good habits in physical exercises and sanitation, enjoy good health and have strong physique needed for serving the human health career.

3.Professional Educational Objectives
To adapt to the global development of Chinese Medicine, by learning the courses offered, students will master the fundamental modern medicine knowledge and basic diagnosis and treatment skills; systematically master Chinese Medicine fundamental theories, knowledge and skills; further the fundamental theories, knowledge and skills of this specialty; acquire the diagnosis and treatment abilities of commonly encountered diseases and frequently encountered diseases; be able to give acupuncture and massage with the knowledge and skills of this specialty.

4.Professional Educational Requirements
With emphasis on ability cultivation, this specialty helps students improve abilities of updating knowledge, finding problems and solving problems, acquire preliminary clinical scientific research ability, acquire Chinese and have certain knowledge about the general Chinese history and Chinese Medicine terms and be able to read general professional Chinese books and periodicals smoothly. Students are expected to become senior Chinese Medicine acupuncture and massage professionals and contribute for the promotion of Chinese Medicine in the world.

5.Practice:
In the 4th semester, there's a 12-week clinical teaching probation with 6 credits. In the 6th semester, there's a 12-week clinical teaching internship with 6 credits. There's a 52-week clinical graduation internship with 50 credits. These practices account for 31% of the total credits.

6.Teaching Arrangement and Periods Distribution
1.From the 1st year to the 4th year, theoretical teaching is offered with experiments and probation offered during this period.
2.From the 11th week of the 6th semester, there will be a three-month (12 weeks) clinical teaching probation.
3.Activities like social practice, social investigation and social consultancy, etc. are offered in flexible time or vacations.
4.A year of graduation internship (52 weeks) is offered from the 16th week of the 8th semester.

7.Degree
When students finish all the courses designated in the teaching plan and pass all the examinations offered and get 200 credits, they can graduate. He who can meet the requirements of "Regulations for Awarding Bachelor's Degree" can be awarded Bachelor of Medicine.

Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (GUCM), established in 1956, is one of the four oldest Chinese Medicine (CM) institutes of higher education in China and a key CM university supervised by State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the People's Republic of China and People's Government of Guangdong Province. The current name is designated in 1995 and it is one of the first group of universities to confer Master's and doctoral degrees. In August 2007, Chinese Medicine Science is designated national first-level key subject and 13 second-level subjects including Chinese Medicine Clinical Foundation, Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine, Chinese Medicine Orthopedics and Traumatology, Chinese Medicine Gynecology and Chinese Medicine Fundamental Theories are also included as national key subjects which realize the significant breakthrough in national key subject development. GUCM has 7 National Administration of Chinese Medicine key subjects, 4 Guangdong Province prominent subjects (Chinese Medicine Science, Chinese Materia Medica Science, Acupuncture and Tuina Massage, Pharmaceutical Engineering), 19 doctoral programs, 24 master programs and 3 post-doctoral stations. Medical insurance

In accordance with regulation of Chinese Education Ministry, all foreign students shall purchase medical insurance during their study in China. The fees are specified as follows:

1.For those above the age of 45, the fee is around RMB 1000 yuan per year.
2.For those under the age of 45, the fee is around RMB 600 yuan per year.
If you study in Higher Education Mega Center (HEMC), it would be helpful with an all-purpose card. It costs RMB 100 yuan for purchase.

The card is an all-purpose rechargeable card with the function of identification, small-value electric wallet, Guangzhou bus and railway travel, which can be used in dining, traffic and recreation. The card is provided by the all-purpose card Company. Once you pay 100 yuan for the card, 70 yuan is at your disposal for use and 30 yuan is made for nominal fee, which is charged by the card company. In order to make it more convenient for you, our school has bought the cards from the company in advance. So if you want, you can buy it while registrating.
