Educational Objectives The educational aim of Petroleum Engineering specialty is to cultivate qualified personnel with advanced technology and engineering knowledge. Requirements Graduates should acquire the following knowledge and capabilities.

1. Graduates will have solid foundation on math, physics, chemistry, mechanics and geology etc. They are able to use the basic Chinese to read Chinese books and magazines of their own specialty and have some skills such as listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation etc.

2. Graduates will grasp the basic theory and professional knowledge of engineering science required in their own specialty. They will possess preliminary capability to use basic applied theory and knowledge to go on oil and gas well drilling and recovering engineering design and oil and gas well development project design, to analyze and solve practical problems on petroleum engineering, and to make technological improvement, scientific development and applied research

3. Graduates will have fairly strong experiment test, calculation and expression abilities and master document retrieval and other method to acquire scientific and technological information.

4. Graduates will have a better self-study and work adaptation capability, computer operation and application ability and innovative consciousness.

5. Graduates will have insight and ability to use systematic engineering ideas and modern operational knowledge to go on production and organizational management.

China University of Petroleum (CUP) is a state key comprehensive university under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education of PRC and also one of the national "211 Project" universities. The university was founded in 1953, named Beijing Petroleum Institute, and moved to Shandong Province in 1969 with its name changed to East China Petroleum Institute. The university was renamed University of Petroleum in 1988 with two campuses respectively in Shandong and Beijing, and changed its name into China University of Petroleum in January 2005.

Accommodation Fees

Note:
1.  The 1 housing is required to pay the housing deposit 1000RMB, check out when no one in the room for the damaged goods to refund the deposit.
2.  In at least 2 students pay 3 months’ rent.
3.  International Students Building provides 3 month free single room of 60 degrees electricity, 3 party water, double room of 120 degrees electricity, 6 party water; the excess burden of its own. 
    Electricity worth 0.54 Yuan / degree, water charges 2.5 Yuan / square. Heating free use. No. 9 not receiving utilities.
4.  Students need to pay Internet fee by themselves.
5.  All fees need to be paid by month.
6. Short-term and temporary stay students do not enjoy the water and electricity subsidies, according to the actual need of charging amount.
7. The government scholarship students and free exchange students are free for electricity and water fees.
8. Rooms from floor 3 to 12 on both east and west side of International Students Building are larger; Each month costs another 100 RMB
